If you look Iran is more democratic than countries like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait & etc for instance in iran women also can attend in poll but in those countries not. even women can't drive car there but in iran is not like (I accept that SOME TIMES your ideas may be repressed by some people but it is not as bad as those countries) or look Egypt!

Saudi Arabia is now a puppet and under control by the US. Iran, not yet.

The US has Saudi in it's back pocket and doesn't care what the Saudis do because the Saudi is a puppet government with a bunch of HYPOCRITES that call themselves Muslims!

Iran is the real deal...Like India and China, Iran is one of the oldest civilization that practiced and still practice democracy. Think back to old Persia when that entire region was known as Persia not Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Afganistan, Syria, etc...It was simply Persia. If you can grab hold of a real history book...not one written by zionist crusaders...you would discover the truth.

Iran is a developed country that is completely independent of the USA and doesn't give a ""RATS PATOOTIE" what sanctions George DumBya imposes. Iran has India, China and Russia as friends so DumBya is nothing!!

Are you OK???

Bush does not want democracy for anyone. All he cares about is going to Crawford and running his weed whacker, and driving his pick-up truck.

Just for the record Saudi Arabia is a Monarchy and Iran is already a democracy.

Go big Red Go

I don't know if Iranian government is more democratic that Saudi Arabia government. Saudis have oil and invest in Carlyle Group. That makes Dubya happy. Anything else is not important for him.

Saudi Arabia is slowly westernizing and is one of the more western of the Arab countries. The US had a long standing ally in the Shah of Iran who tried modernizing so quickly that the religious right deposed him giving us the Ayatollah Khomeini.

So while King Fahd slowly moves his country to a more western philosophy the US is not going to push him to make radical changes that could jeopardize his rule. Fahd is a monarch, not a dictator.

Besides, when you look back at history their have been many alliances that were not in line with our thinking. Clinton and China, FDR and Germany, Reagan and post-Shah Iran, Reagan and Russia, Nixon and China, Bush Sr and Libya. Many of these were due to economic realities and we put human rights, which we always champion on the world stage, on hold for convenience sake.

The United States and Saudi Arabia are in bed together because we want their oil and they want our money. ( Side note, oil is probably one of the reasons we invaded Iraq and not say ... North Korea. ) One reason Egypt is left alone is they have recognized Israel. On a more objective level the country's you have mentioned are not an overt threat out side of their own borders.

Saudi Arabia is the number one producer of oil in the world. He doesn't want to disturb the relations we have with them for that reason.

Iraq is the number two producer.
