When someone asks you for a recipe for a dish of yours, do you give them the correct recipe?

Some people I know will omit an ingredient, change a quantity, etc. Do you do that or know anyone who does?

I made a recipe from my husband's grandmother and I'm sure she changed brown sugar to sugar. Although I agreed it could've been an honest mistake, I mentioned to my husband that some people change recipes. He didn't believe me that people would do such a thing. (A cousin of mine has been working for years on a family cook book. The time delay -- fixing the quantities from the recipes her mom wrote down... my Aunt always gave out altered recipes because she didn't want people to make the dish as well as she did.)
