My first trimester I was always hungry and if I didn't eat I would throw up. I had to eat ever 2 hours. Luckly it stopped by my 13th week. Now I am 5 1/2 months and its back again. This morning I ate at 3am, at 7:30am, 9:30 and now its 11am and I just ate vegetable soup and I am still hungry. It hurts if I don't eat when I am hungry. I tried drinking extra fluids, eating high fiber foods, lots of protein and nothing seems to be working.

Does anyone else have this problem? Or remember having this problem?

**I gained 9 pounds so far in my pregnancy...(for those who will make smart remarks)

Most likely a growth spurt......and when kids grow, they get more hungry....right? As long as you eat healthy and make super wise choices you'll be fine, just eat when you feel the need to, theres nothing wrong with that.

Im 8 months pregnant with my first. I wouldnt say I was/am "always" Hungry! I am a over weight kinda girl to begin with. I could go all morning with out eating before pregnancy, but I know now that I cant do that while im pregnant! I eat a fair amount of breakfast (bagles, donuts, eggs toast ect....no not all at one ;-) ) I eat a good size lunch! Then I snack a little from like 2 till dinner time. After dinner I will trat my self to little snack! Some days im hungrier than others other days I cant get enough to eat. Its wierd. Your fine. I say eat. If your hungry your body is telling you to eat!

Oh, honey, I sympathise completely. I was exactly how you describe for my whole pregnancy - absolutely crazed all the time with genuine hunger, and would throw up if I had nothing to eat. Alas, I doubled my body weight in 9 months (put on 9 and a half stone! I didn't know this was possible in this timeframe!) and am still, four years on, struggling to get rid of the extra.

If you find something that works among the suggestions here, you let us all know, huh?!

Good luck - with the hunger, the pregnancy and the baby. xx

yep, i'm 20 weeks and I can't stop eating! I eat and I'm hungry five minutes later, or I'll get sick and throw up. At least its not like my pregnancy with my daughter; I was constantly sick and battled to keep anything down! It's annoying, but you just gotta keep your tummy full. little bites here and there. and don't worry about gaining too much weight, who cares what others think (or what others say)...if you're healthy, and your baby is healthy, and you are eating the right kind of foods, eat, girlfriend, eat!!!

It sounds like you need to add more lean protein to your diet. Think meat, nuts, and fish. Carbohydrates provide the quick energy your body needs to get going. Protein provides sustained energy. It's like the difference between gasoline for your car and solid energy used to fly a space shuttle. Gasoline gives you a quicker start but burns just as quickly. Solid fuel takes a lot more effort to break down, but will take you greater distances.

This is not the time to restrict your food intake. Eat smart. Have a healthy baby, without the excess baby weight.

No smart remarks here!!! I am in the same boat.......I am so hungry and exhausted all in one......I'm only 6 weeks and I feel like my body is just starving....My baby must be a fatty. I get exactly what you are saying. The only thing is.........I am so hungry yet put food in front of me and I get nauseous just looking at it.......all I can eat is salad so its ten times worse! I feel your pain. I hope you can get past this phase and have your healthy beautiful baby.

yea. just make sure u always keep food in ur purse and by ur bed. substitute some hungry strikes with water. u have to drink lots of fluids thru out ur pregnancy. dont over eat cause that can cause u to throw up and then ur hungry pains will hurt even worse. eat solid foods and healthy foods. i would make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, meat sandwiches, or eat big bowls of cereal.

Your eating for 2 now! So you need to make sure you eat enough to help that baby grow! But you should eat things like fruit, Salads and healthy stuff. Junk food will hinder the baby and cause Gestational Diabetes! Good Luck and Congrats to you!
