First, you need to know the size of the DVD contents. If you have around 4GB of data, then you might as well forget it coz you'll need around 8-9 CD's.

If you have less than 1GB of data, you can have two ways of converting DVD to VCD.

First method
1) Copy data from DVD to your hard disc
2) Burn the data back into CD-R using a CD-RW

Second method
1) Copy data from DVD using software like Sonic MyDVD Plus and burn into CD-R using a CD-RW

Its pretty easy to do, but usually not worth it. The only reason I can really think of is that you have a DVD that won't play because of region encoding.

Anyway, just go to http://www.videohelp.com and click on Convert in the green How to menu on the left. Select the type of conversion that you want in the drop down.

To make it a bit easier for you, here is a direct link to the guides for DVD to VCD:

http://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?searchtext=&tools=&madeby=&formatconversionselect=DVD+to+VCD&howtoselect=%3B&orderby=Date&listall=1&hits=25&archive=0&listallusers=&search=Search+or+List+Guides

Looks like the second one down is pretty simple.

Also, if indeed you need to convert becasue of region restictions (you got an import disk) then you can also look up your DVD player in the brown Lists section and find the hack code for your player to make it region free.

um.. well it would be extremely hard.

a DVD's capacity is like 4GBs

a CD is 700MBs..

a VCD is simply a movie burned onto a CD.. so a DVD cannot fit onto a VCD...

also you need a VCD player to play VCDs.. most DVD players will NOT play VCDs. I have a philips DVD player and it will play VCDs though...

buuuuut.. if you got a dvd copier thing and copied it to your HD and shrunk it BIG TIME you might be able to fit it on a VCD or two with huge sacrifice of quality....

dont ask me how to actually do it though.. I cant figure it out myself lol but i suppose its possible.
