A genuine 1880 $20 silver certificate books at more than $20,000. They have red stamps, a woman with a shield on the right, and a man's bust on the left. In the middle of the note, it says "20" in a black octagon shaped circle. The bill should be OVERSIZED (larger than modern currency).

You asked the wrong group of people (stupid teens, sorry but it's true). Most of the respondants either think you meant 1980 (instead of 1880) or they know absolutely nothing about old currency. Currency collecting is a billion dollar business, even more popular than coins and baseball cards. Unlike coins, currency rarely ever survives 20 years of wear and tear, and each year when the federal reserve prints new money, they destroy every single old bill that comes into their possession (banks send old money back). So, your bill being alive and well after 126 years is truly remarkable. I've been collecting currency for a long time, I've got a black book price guide right in front of me--the bill is worth at least twenty thousand dollars, if it's genuine. There are less than 500 known copies in existance.

Its probably worth about $20.00. I would keep it because the Us Mint retires bills after they have been in circulation for a certain amount of time. One thing that you can do that is kool, there is a website that you can track where the bill has been as long as its been registered. Below is the website, its kool.

It's worth AT LEAST $20. Do NOT spend it! Take it to a reputable coin/currency dealer who can appraise it for you. But remember, if they want to buy it from you, they'll only give you half what it's worth. If you want to sell it for its appraised value, try Ebay.
