Saturated steam is where everything is steam and there is no liquid.
If you cool it down a little you will have some liquid.

Superheated steam is where you have passed the point where everything is steam and even if you cool the steam down it will still be steam.

First it is necessary to understand that 'saturation temperature' is the 'boiling temperature' of water. This varies with the pressure at which boiling takes place.

Saturated steam is steam which exists at its saturation temperature corresponding to its pressure. Superheated steam is produced by heating saturated steam to a higher temperature. The 'degree of superheat' is the extent to which its temperature is raised above the saturation value.
To be complete, mention should be made of 'wet' steam. This is just a mixture of saturated steam and a fine mist of water droplets. It is this mist that you see when steam issues from a kettle.

Water when it is heated after boiling and steam is formed still contrains water vapour in steam. Since it is not completely dry, some amount of water is present, it is represented by a dryness fraction between zero to one, such as 0.89 dry or 0.79 dry etc., The total heat of such a steam will be less than the steam which is superheated, which does not contain water vapour at all and condensation does not take place easily. For a steam locomotive therefore superheated steam is used as during expansion in cylinder it should not condense heavily as we will loose power and also encounter hydraullic lock.
Hence superheated steam is preferred for steam engines working with higher horse power.
