Limewire is running in the background sharing files and taking up a bunch of resources.

Do a Ctl+Atl+Del and look under processes. Checkout how much memory and/or CPU cycles it is using. You will be surprised.

On top of that, using Limewire is basically like working in a flu clinic and wondering why you get sick all the time. It is so full of spyware, malware, and viruses it not worth the trouble.

(OK - so technically Limewire ITSELF may not be loaded up with junk but when exposing yourself to a P2P you are opening up your computer to anything all the other computers connected to you might be infected with.)

Most people don't know enough to manage their routers and firewalls to limit exposure through Limewire.

Best advice - dump Limewire.

When you install Limewire it wants to run when you start windows. It could be running in the background and if it is, people could be downloading from you without you even knowing, thereby slowing your computer down. Open Limewire and click on the Tools menu then on options. On the left side click on Advanced and then on system startup. Make sure it is unchecked. Shut down Limewire and reboot your PC. See if that fixes the problem.

I would recommend getting rid of limewire and then running some type of anti-virus and spyware programs. It is nothing but a spyware infested program that will totally slow your computer down. I've seen many machines with Limewire on them, and each of them have been heavily infested with spyware.

Although useful, when you download from limewire you can also contract spyware and virus's. You must scan your computer every time you use this programme. You may have a problem that is yet to rear its evil head. Try speaking to an expert.

Crap in crap out. Anything free on the Internet almost always comes with little surprises as you have now learned. Go to download.com and get 'Spybot Search and Destroy' and 'Ad-Aware' both are very good free programs that should locate and clean all the junk off your computer. Also I trust that you have a good anti-virus program that is up to date. And as a further line of defense Microsoft offers a free program from their website called Windows Defender that might help as well.I have all the programs listed above and have never had a problem with my computers at least nothing that they have not found and cleaned up. Good luck.

Get rid of Limewire as it's riddled with spyware and adware. The Pro version is not so its good, but you are actually better off replacing it with Frostwire which is based on Limewire and is free with no spyware nor adware and uses the Gnutella network.

Yea I think like MadMick .While you re using programs like limewire you create open doors on your computer so there may torajans or other things like that coming to your computer while downloading .You should install a trusted virus-scan and internet suite program to protect your computer from any threats .I advise you to purchase kaspersky6.0 .ı m using it and it doesnt make slow computer cause it uses system Ram very little.
