it brings a sense of relief and comfort over the mind.. almost like it takes your mind off everything but the cigarette... btw i dont smoke.. just during chats and after sex with my g/f

As a smoker since the age of 15, and still smoking at 40+, and hating it every day, personally I would have a smoke as a reliever and a relaxer and because my system would desire it.

When someone is addicted to nicotine, as I am, it's a nerve pill, a pain pill, a pat on the back for a job well done, a refreshing moment to relax after work, a nightcap, a wake up with coffee moment, and a pity party guest of honor.

Behaviorally speaking, cigarette smoking is a positive stimulus. I don't mean to defend cigarette smoking, it is just that smoking is pleasurable.

Sometimes positive stimuli can be used to reward behavior. So after your behavior of dealing with a stressful situation, smoking reinforces those behaviors you accomplished.

Nicotine is addictive. The smoke in the lungs when inhaled raises the Blood-Pressure and gives you a 'rush', and you become dizzy.
