metal... come on rock just doesnt bring the musicianship, lyrics, and sheer brilliant songwriting intensity that metal brings... rock is still good ( all i listen to is classic and prog rock though, cause modern rock sucks!), but metal no competition!

I think that metal falls into the rock catagory. With out Rock 'n' Roll there would be NO metal!
Both are awsome because the writers have talent. There is to muc cRAP out there today and not as many actual musicians.

Metal is kinda part of rock, but a lot moodier. So, Metal is better, most of the subgenres anyway. Like Death, Black, Doom, Goth, Industrial, Symphonic, Speed, and some of the Nu metal is alright, too.

Metal IS rock, a subcategory of it. If all you care about is loud stuff to annoy other people, then metal will do fine for you. But except for Led Zeppelin, metal groups generally don't make an effort at any creativity. They don't have to. Their audience doesn't care.
