Pretty much anything written by Tim McCreight. He goes into just the right amount of detail about how to do stuff, and he's an expert in the field (metals).

My wife loves to cross stitch, she would probably like reading about that because she had to learn the hard way and still doesn't understand every type of stitch that the patterns require (she just takes a guess). It would also be helpfull to include the color conversions between brands.

I would love to see a comprehensive book about paper craft (dolls, origami, altered books, ATCs, paper sculpture, card making, etc).

I love the "For dummies" series of books.

I should pick up "quilting for dummies" I would love to learn to quilt if I had the time.
