I am guessing that when you say "bones crack" you are not actually talking about the bone itself cracking (ie. breaking a leg or arm), but the popping sound in the joint. For example, cracking your knuckles, wrists or shoulder? It has long been an old wives tale that cracking your knuckles would promote arthritis and was harmful to the joints. In reality, it is quite harmless so long as you do not hyper-extend the joint. The popping sound is actually caused by deposits of gas (usually nitrogen) in the joint. Where there is enough of the gas collected in the joint, it forms a bubble that when the joint is squeezed, the bubble pops! This breaks the gasses into smaller bubbles, some of them are small enough that the body can get rid of them and others remain, reform and a little while later you can crack your knuckles again.
It is entirely natural for gasses to collect in your joints and anyone that dives knows that this is exagerated when you go very deep under water. The pressure allows a more dense collection of nitrogen bubbles to collect in the joints without pain, but if you re-surface to quickly, the bubble expand rapidly causing immense pressure in the joints, more commonly known as the bends...Hope this helps...

a lot of times when your bones or joints pop it means that your joint is just slightly out of place or that there is just an air pocket in the joint.
