You don't have to clean the ball, you don't have to worry about the ball ring breaking or the ball falling out, it's designed to have less problems. It's new technology that works, support it.

If you mean a wireless mouse, I don't think there are any because of the battery needed to power the mouse.
If you mean an oprical mouse, they're brilliant. As well as all the other features mentioned in the preious answers, I find it much easier to use as I have arthritis. I've got more control over the mouse than with a ball, and have to move less. I can rest the heel of my hand on a gel pad and just move a small amount because I don't have to push the ball over the pad.
And its more precise which is great if you're doing graphics.

It is not clear whether you are asking about an optical mouse or a wireless mouse.
If it is an optical mouse, the advantage is that you don't have a mouse ball to get "gunked" up and worn out. All my PCs and laptops have optical mouses [mice?] now.
I did have an optical mouse that I bought for about $6.00 and it worked temporarily, then became junk. You can get a great one from Dell or H-P for $15 or $20 that will outlast your PC.

Better sensitivity with movement; the newer technology works better, like how a good computer mouse should be.

Definitely I love that I don't have to worry about a ball to clean, or the inside where the ball is held...
