My brother is taking pre-algebra and i can't remember a thing from my past...

1. 3x - 4/2 = 2(x + 3) - 4

2. 4x - (-1 + 3) = 2x - 1/2

the answer for the 2nd one must be written as a fraction, not a decimal. I think we got the rest of them right... I got a little stuck on both of those though.

1. 3x - 4/2 = 2(x + 3) - 4
3x - 2 = 2x + 6 - 4 (distributing out the parenthesis)
3x - 2x = 2 + 2 (combine like terms)
x = 4

If you meant:
(3x - 4)/2 = 2(x + 3) - 4
3/2 * x - 2 = 2x + 6 - 4
3/2 * x - 2x = 2 + 2
-1/2 * x = 4
x = -8

2. 4x - (-1 + 3) = 2x - 1/2
4x - (2) = 2x - 1/2 (operations inside parentheses)
4x - 2x = 2 - 1/2 (combine like terms)
2x = 3/2
x = 3/4

if you meant:
4x - (-1 + 3) = (2x - 1)/2
4x - (2) = x - 1/2
4x - x = 2 - 1/2
3x = 3/2
x = 1/2

1. ----------
3x - 4/2 = 2x + 6 - 4
3x - 2x = 2 + 4/2
x = 2 + 2
x = 4

2. ----------
4x - (-1 + 3) = 2x - 1/2
4x - (2) = 2x - 1/2
4x - 2 = 2x - 1/2
4x - 2x = -1/2 + 2
2x = -1/2 + 4/2
2x = 4/2 - 1/2
2x = 3/2
x = 3/2 x 1/2
x = 3/4

Hope it helps :)
