The knock on Manning is that he went to a Division I-AA school and not a Division I-A school. Therefore it's going to be harder for him to make the transition to the NFL than a guy who went to say Ohio State where the competition is much stiffer. Not to say that it can't be done, both Jerry Rice and Walter Payton went to Division I-AA schools too.

So far he has looked all right, not great but not bad. The big thing for him is going to be getting used to the speed of the pro game. He still looks a step slow on some plays... and it doesn't help that he gives up a couple inches to some of the larger wide receivers he has to go up against, either.

But I definitely think that he has the potential to become a star in the NFL if he's willing to work at it. For a rookie, he really doesn't seem that far away from being a legitimate starter.

He made a costly penalty last week, but made up for it with an interception. He will be a welcome addition to a deep Chicago secondary.
