Transpiration is the evaporation of water from aerial parts of plants, especially leaves but also stems, flowers and fruits. Transpiration is a side effect of the plant needing to open its stomata in order to obtain carbon dioxide gas from the air for photosynthesis.

Photosynthesis creates complex sugars by combining carbon dioxide and water. The best known of these sugars is called cellulose, and it is what wood and paper are made from.
The opposite reaction is to break down cellulose into carbon dioxide and water, and the fast way to do this is to burn the cellulose. Cellular respiration does this in a small, controlled way -- fire does it fast.

The opp of photosynthesis is "RESPIRATION" in plants only . Plants respire only at night time or in darkness and consume the synthesized food(frutose or C6H12O6 )at night time. got it !!
however
if u look at the chemical reaction :
6CO + 6H2O -------> 6C6H12O + 6O2 { can only take place in the presenses of light and chlorophyll }
its just a reverse of respiration { here no light is present which is essentioal for photosynthesis. missing an important factor} hope clear !!!!

In a certain sense, it's animal respiration and metabolism. A plant takes in sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to create sugar and the plant's own substance, as well as an oxygen byproduct. Humans and other animals breathe in that oxygen, and eat sugar and other carbohydrates (derived from plant material), along with meat products (the animals having been nourished with plant material), and then break down the carbohydrates into water and waste carbon dioxide.
