Because stupid people want money... and to try to get your money, they will email you.
If everyone in the world got infinite money, you would have no spam.
Then everything else would collapse, however.

every time you sign up for something is not always safe. Some sites sign you up just to pass you around, so to speak. Once they have your address SPAM!! They sell it or just pass it around. I know it sucks, sometimes I put my name as "Crazy" or "Silly" and when I get mail back addressing me with that name I'll remember who I gave it to or know who is passing my name and address around.
