Hello Tiny,

Yes, rebirth is very much a *real* phenomenon.

There are five different elements, broadly speaking, that make up this body. Upon death, we *continue* to exist, but we have only the ether element. There is a finite, interim gap of time when we continue to be in this state. Through a complicated formula (I am yet to understand it fully), we again take on the form of the five elements, and are "reborn" in somebody's womb.

It is a complex phenomenon, and it is difficult to explain it in the confined space of this box. But I have seen it at very close quarters, and can vouch for it. Science still does not have the basic tools to measure the subtle energy levels that vibrate in us when we are in the three dimension of our body. I see a lot of confusion (science intermingling with fantasy) among scientific thinking in this arena, and that is because the basic premises on which today's science is based precludes it from expanding and evolving beyond the tinkering of entities and attributes of the physical realm.

Simply dismissing the idea as rubbish would mean identifying oneself to those people who used to think that the earth is the centre of the universe. It is only by keeping an open mind to the possibility of Science and its tools and techniques being inadequate, that we can really open the doors to further knowledge.

Hth.

If you are talking about belief in reincarnation, I would think I would not, since no scientific mecanisms have been established to explain how the mind (memories, experiences, etc) can be transmitted from one individual to the other, except for what genetics allowes.

But as living beings, I believe we all experience epiphanies - a new way of understanding things and concepts - revelations, in a way. Rebirth is then possible to all of us.

This is the fundamental break point in my belief system. I try to practice Buddhism and yet I cannot get my head around the concept of reincarnation, it makes no logical sense. Though the 'laws' of Karma are easier to grasp, in as much as I believe that positive attitude works towards making the world a much nicer place for everyone. And I could possibly understand that because the chemical structure of the body may be broken down and used again thus being 'reborn' in many different forms, I don't have a viable theory which suggests that a spirit, soul or such like, may be transferred across dimensions and re-emerge within another body as a sentient being with innumerable histories...

Depends on what you mean by "rebirth", in the Hindu and re-incarnation sense no. It is a distraction from the present and the things that must be done here and now.
If you mean a current change, then yes, it is possible. Again, it would depend on how you are using the term.

"According to Buddhism, the deepest, most pernicious erroneous view held by sentient beings is the view that a permanent, eternal, immutable, independent self exists.

If there is no self, what is the meaning of rebirth?

Of course, since I am a Scorpio. One of my signs is the Phoenix - the mythical bird who burns up in flames and is reborn. I feel that I always have the power to start anew and to change - that is what I mean by rebirth.

Perhaps conception is one step and the birth and then death and then rebirth into another reality perhaps.

i do believe in rebirth... sometimes i feel like i have been through a lot... or sometimes, i feel deja vu... and there is this sense of familarity... also, sometimes when i meditate and feel close to the Power, then i feel like i have been to him/her and back... i think my soul is old and good :D

Yes, I do. Reincarnation, if that is what you mean.

I believe we come here from HOME or HEAVEN as a spiritual contract with God to learn and experience, in order to perfect our souls and become more spiritual for God. I believe it is a choice and I believe that we do not have to come here if we don't want to. After every incarnation that we have here on earth I believe we have the choice whether to come back or not. Say if we didn't achieve what we wanted to we might decide to incarnate again. I believe that before we leave HOME or HEAVEN we chart what we want to learn, think of earth as a school, and so therefore when you experience things like Deja Vu for instance (that feeling that I have been here before or done this before feeling) that you are on track with your chart meaning, you charted certain things to happen for you to learn and experience - hence the fact that psychics can tell you things like your future. I do not believe in a hell but rather of dark spirits or entities, that when they die they make a horseshoe trip right back into uteruo again back to earth because they choose to reject God and Heaven. I believe that earth is the closest thing to a hell, but believe that there is no such thing as hell or Satan. We on earth are bodies with spirits and in Heaven we are spirits with bodies. There is life after death, it is in Heaven that we are truly alive.
