I've recently created an account in some place but I've forgotten my username and password. The only thing I have with me now is the stored cache/cookie.

May I ask if there is anyone there who knows how to extract the username and password information from this cookie? This account means a lot to me. DO you know of any site that can "see through" the cookie?

Thank you! *Please note that this website does not have a 'Forgot Password" button. I guess I would do with some programming/

A cookie contains plain text. You can open it with Notepad for example. Simply go in the Options of Internet Explorer (or any other browser) and normally you can display the folder that contains the temporary files, including cookies.

However, WHAT is stored in the cookie depends on the web site. Normally, they store a session ID that does not give any indication of the username or password.

Finding a username in a cookie is possible, but rare. Finding a (unencrypted) password in a cookie would be VERY rare and would demonstrate bad web programming. So don't count on it.

I would recommend contacting the web administrator for help.
