Actually this is not a very expensive telescope. Is in the beginners price range. So if you got it from a specialist shop then no the average sale price for a serious telescope is to the 1500 pound mark . If you baught it from a high street shop you were probably robbed! ;)

Well, I am no expert on things but I think between £300 - £500 for a decent telescope is okay.
If you had the money to spend, and you really wanted one - and got a good quality one then it shouldn't matter as long as you enjoy it!

It depends on the telescope, some cost far more than that, some cost less. However, I have heard that telescopes from US suppliers like Celestron and Meade cost a lot more in Europe than in the US. Something about import duties or VAT or something like that.

If it's a good one + you want to see stuff that's far away then no. If, however you were looking to spend £500 on a stereo or TV then yes, I'd say that you'd been had mate.
