my son lives in phila, pa and attend kindergarden is this public school or childcare

It's actually school. He will be introduced to functioning within a group setting. Social Skills. He will learn how to take direction and follow procedures in simple activities such as standing in line and keeping his hands to himself. He will learn basic things like cutting along the lines with scissors, coloring within the lines and outlining, recognizing alphabets and their sounds, identifying numbers and simple math etc...
Kinder is much more structured than child care which is primarily playing.

Well, kindergarten is mandatory for all children, so it´s not childcare. It´s a public school if you don´t have to pay monthly tuition. If you pay tuition, then it´s private school.

It is kindergarten. It could be at a public or private school.

And??? Your question would be? It is normal for kids to go to kindergarten in a public school! Maybe you should go back to KINDERGARTEN to learn how to spell and learn what a question is!

kindergarten is actual school. preschool is more like a daycare .. so if its pre-k its different..
