Acculturation?

That's just natural, when a person from a different culture for some reason (lets say) joins your culture (moves from India to America). They will of course become somewhat American. The need being to go to school, to fit in, to get friends, to get a job, etc. Even the kind of food that you eat will change since the same things don't grow (in America) that grow (in India) and although there is increased shipping of certain ingrediants, if you are poor and you have to you'll buy the cheaper stuff (which is the stuff that is grown in America).

New example, if you grew up poor (in the ghetto) and you excelled in school, went to college and got a great career (became monied) your behavior might change, things that you like might change, the way that you eat might change, the types of friends you have might change, you may even just drop your old friends because they don't fit in with your new friends.

there are cultures and societies. cultures are a part of society but the society may be a band of various cultures brought together by a common theme. as an example we have the United States as a society but within the common society are many different cultures. there are backgrounds of Native American Culture, African Culture, English Culture, Irish Culture, German Culture, etc. etc. etc. which have all come together to unite into the U.S. Society, yet at the same time retain their individual identifies as long as these individual identities promote the welfare of the society as a whole.
