Annihilation is defined as "total destruction" or "complete obliteration" of an object; having its root in the Latin nihil (nothing). A literal translation is "to make into nothing".

When a low-energy electron annihilates a low-energy positron (anti-electron), they can only produce two gamma ray photons, since the electron and positron do not carry enough mass-energy to produce heavier particles.

Jack boarded the bus, and soon was travelling down the familiar lane as he headed back to the farm. The smell of harvest and the orange glow as the sun caught the dusty windows filled him with a sense of excitement - he was really back home!

As they topped the crest of the hill next to the farm he glimpsed the fields over the hedgerows. To his horror, he saw that this years crop had been completely annihilated by floppy-eared rabbits! His homecoming wasn't going to be the scene he had imagined so many times.

-- poor Jack huh? He will probably 'annihilate' any rabbits that he comes across.
