Doesn't this imply that if you want to have sex with someone temporarily, you can just marry them temporarily?

I don't particularly lean to any side... I'm just curious and I know I'm over-generalizing.

No, Catholics don't condone divorce.

BTW how can you expect a religion based entirely on century-old writings to yield to the fashions of modern times? That means you're not prepared to stick to those writings.

Apostolics do not condone divorce and remarriage. We do prompte abstinence as an excellent way to learn "self-control", something few practise today, (although it is a very good virtue)liberal churches think it is OK. In the Word of God it does not clearly say not to divorce, in the old testament God instructed Moses to allow divorce because of infidelity, however remarriage was only allowed for the cheated on individual, not the cheater. In the new testament, a Bishop (Pastor or preacher) is to be "a man of one wife", so if a man divorces and remarries, according to the new testament scriptures he is dissallowed from the ministry of a Bishop. This does not insinuat he cannot work for God, only that he cannot be the Bishop. Any practising the office of a Bishop who has been divorced and remarried is a practising infidel...according to scripture that is. Of course in a world of "forgive and ignor it" that is not what modern day preachers preach. Wellllll, the scriptures never changed, nor thier meaning, mankind changes meanings to allow what he wants to do to acceptable and "ok"...if it is wrong, it is wrong today, the Bible says "Let God be true and every man a lier... you decide?

When I was a young person there were fewer sexually transmitted diseases than there are today, and free-sex was relatively safe. That is no longer the case. The diseases that are transmitted today are really really serious and either deadly or so unpleasant that a potential life-partner would rather not have a relationship with you rather than risk catching the disease. If a person only has sex with those they are married to at the time it is unlikely they will catch a deadly or nasty disease. Also divorce is an admission that humans are capable of making mistakes, and that it is better to admit making a mistake than to spend a whole life in a bad situation. Divorce does not necessarily mean a temporary marriage, it is only an admission that perhaps they should try to develop a "permanent" relation with someone they are better suited to.

Seams like that to me. Your marriage should last a life time. Is not that what is taught? Because women now go and get jobs, and support them selves they don't have to put up with men that want to control another persons life.
Women aren't as dumb as men think they are,
