I've recently started seeing a lovely guy, but he told me that he's wife rather not have him around, however he' s kids are lovely. Do I jump into this situation and sort out the x-wife or stand aside and let them sort out their, well, x-family matters?

Well, you can have a little slap ... >x< ... there you go. Didn't mean to hurt. Just take care!

Ignore the "slappers", it is nice to know that regardless of your situation there are still some nice women out there, good for you.
I would not get involved with the mother/wife though, you could end up alienating the children in the process.
Stand by your man, give him strength to fight his own battles. Regardless of our bravado we all need a strong woman if we are to become the best we can.

OH NOOO, I did the same thing only he has 3 kids.. Ends up he is my soul mate. I wouldn't want to live without him. Hold on you are in for a bumpy ride.. especially if you have kids too I'm hoping the x-wife will disappear some day. Your not silly your just in love. Good luck

Well, it depends. Is the "falling" mutual? Do you have kids? If so, how do the combined kids get along. If not, do you want kids? Do you want kids of your own? If yes, you may want to find out if he wants MORE kids. Do you really LIKE his kids? Is the monster x-wife local? Is she really monstrous, or just behaving a bit badly? How recent was their split? Even honest, well-meaning people have a tendency to exaggerate their ex's flaws, and even the most monstrous tend to become less so over time.

Good luck.

So he's divorced and got 2 kids ... no big deal there ... his ex-wife is his problem and you're better off not getting involved

So what's your problem again? ... Oh you just want a slap!
*slap* - Feel better now?

Just enjoy what you have with your man and his kids - hopefully they don't see you as a replacement for their mother?

men with kids/ex wifes r not to be messed with. if the ex wife clicks her fingers no matter how much he says he hates her he will go running. iw ont go with anyone who has an ex in the background let alone kids and looney ex wife. itr all predicts trouble and only u will be hurt

If the relationship is dead n buried then go ahead get stuck in. But do realise that a lot of x partner's do like to get involved and may cause some trouble.

Been there - done that...wish someone had slapped me!

4 years of hell - he's still dancing to the ex-wife's tune and I'm history.
