Have you had accounts with each and is there much of a difference? (service, homepage, ease of use, extras-like answers, etc...)

My ISP is AT&T Yahoo DSL so I've been using Yahoo email almost exclusively. But recently, Yahoo has been trying to "improve" too many things at once (new home page, photomail, beta mail, etc.) and service has been less than optimum. Seems like at least twice a week something from Yahoo gets taken off-line for maintenance or tweaking.

So about a year ago I set up a gmail and hotmail account. I figured if Yahoo won't let me send or receive emails for hours (or sometimes a few days) at a time, I needed a backup plan. For the most part, Yahoo email has a user-friendly interface and is pretty reliable.

My biggest gripe is why can't they post something to alert users that parts of the system will be down for repair? You can always tell when Yahoo is messing with something because of the number of questions that suddenly appear on Y!A.

The best free email I have used is Yahoo. It has great features, is easy to use and Microsoft doesn't send you spam ;-)
