well i agree with responders above first half-post.
As for backup software.
Symantec is not the most optimal program.
i'd recommend true image.
Pros : it's chepaer. has more features.
cons : interface really s...s alot.
now if have some doubts , below is given link i met.
it's about Ghost and ATI

Impossible, a diskette only holds 1.44MB and Windows XP takes up about 1-2GB. You can backup a few system files by copying and pasting, but that's about it.

You can backup the window XP on DVD or CD, not on diskette as it hold only upto 1.44 mb.

As the other folks have said, it's not really feasible to use floppies to back up Win XP. But if you're talking about creating a Boot Disk to get to the operating system if the hard drive isn't working (virus, etc.), then floppies are the way to go. This site tells you how:

If you're trying to back up (copy or clone) the entire hard drive, I would recommend Norton Ghost (or some other image cloning software.) You can't just copy XP to a CD or DVD because it's protected. (Think about it for a second. If people could just copy XP they could put it on as many computers as they wanted to for free. Microsoft wouldn't like that.)
