These are people, for the most part, that spend their lives engaging in fantasy and make-believe. Why on earth would anyone hold them up as role models? A role model should be someone who has actually accomplished something tangible and'or inspired others to greater things.
Singing songs, playing make-believe in a movie, or simply being beautiful and wealthy from family money does neither of those.

Yes. Probably 99% of the time, you're not going to know how that person really is in real life if you just see them on TV and whatnot, but if you admire the way they act and the actions they make that you hear about, then it should be suitable for that person that admires them.
It shouldn't matter who they are, what they do, how they act.. if it's really how they act in real life or not.. if they put off the character that someone likes and wants to be like, then that's what they should do.

For the most part no, but there are some that do stand out as good role models, and Britney is not one of them.

They aren't accountable, so making them role models can be quite dangerous.
While they might be something for kids to aspire to at first, a descent into drug addiction or scandal can really become a detriment on a young person's psyche.

They aren't any better than us common folk.Their lives are just more magnified due to their popularity.I don't think anyone should serve as a role model because no one is perfect

Yes, they are role models!!!.............if your main ambition is to be very skinny (V. Beckham, Nicole Richie), very stupid and therefore famous (Jade Goody), be constantly drunk (Lindsay Lohan), be a girlfriend of a guy who prefers cheap hookers but at least you get in papers and can spend his money (Coleen McLoughlin), or be a daughter of somebody famous or rich (Paris Hilton, Peaches Geldof), but otherwise you don't wanna be doing anything much.
