I've been reading up on the rules of the Premiership, but I keep getting confused over the points. How are they awarded? If a club is penalized over an infraction (major or minor), is that deducted from their total points?

Sorry. I'm a total newbie.

I'm an Arsenal supporter purely because of Jens Lehmann. Be gentle, it's my first time.

Every win is 3 points, A tie is 1 point and a loss is 0 points. Usually clubs aren't penalized and it varies on what the club did such as Juventus in Serie B, they had a League deduction and 17 points, AC Milan only had about 7 point deduction so it depends on the 'crime'

No points deduted in the Premiership unless financial irregualities, bribing refs ( Italian league ) etc. Players get booked or sent off and then banned for a number of games. The point system basicly works like this. The good teams get all of the points ( man u, chelsea ) the bad teams don't ( Arsenal, Spurs ).
