Just put the car on the ferry in Rome and they take it for you, then you can drive the car for a period in Greece until it is officially registered as an imported car, since Greece is European Union as well as Italy, so it is like taking the car from one state to another state in the same Union. Okay ? the Italian Numbers can stay on the car in Greece maybe for one year.
