The scientific name of the reason is "Rayleigh scattering".
As light moves through the atmosphere, most of the longer wavelengths (reds, orange, yellow) pass straight through.

However, much of the shorter wavelength light is absorbed by the gas molecules. The absorbed blue light is then radiated in different directions. It gets scattered all around the sky. Whichever direction you look, some of this scattered blue light reaches you. Since you see the blue light from everywhere overhead, the sky looks blue.

The sky absorbs the other rays from the spectrum and reflects the blue color so we see the sky as blue.

it has nothing to do woth the sea. actually, the same effect causes the sea to be blue.
light from the sun bends because of the atmosphere. that's why wee see a different color every time of the day. it's orange after sunrise, red before sunset. blue in between. that's because the spectrum (ROYGBIV) has different wavelengths for each color. and why is the sky dark at night? because there is no light. lol

Actually it is not blue. Our eyes see blue because of the different levels of ozone or other molecules in the atmosphere. Also cloud density and rain or water density. Notice sometimes the sky is white, black, orange, blue, or a combination of colors.

sun gives out light (many colors). sea absord most of those colors except the hue blue which bounce back to the atmosphere. It's the color that you see in the sky.
