Lefty loosy, righty tighty.
I wish someone had told me that when I was 6.

Because you lack a certain common sense? It's easy, you have two ways to remember. First, the old saying righty tighty, lefty loosey. The second is to look at your right hand. Allow your fingers to curl in naturally, and point you thumb straight out. Then rotate your wrist to point you thumb in the direction you want the bolt or nut to go. You turn the nut or bolt in the directions you fingers are curling. It's a little thing called the right hand rule.
I bet your really in trouble when ever you happen upon a left handed nut!

Left-handed people have that problem (Sometimes, not all) I all ways remember it as 'follow the hands of a clock to tighten' so the other way must be to 'loose off!' sounds sexy doesn't it?
