I think so. Football players jump each other like horny baboons when they score, swimmers almost drown in their ecstacy of winning. Like fools they wave their flowers or cup on the podium, like a toddler waves its drawing. A little modesty please?
That kind of behaviour is bad for social health. Because when there are winners, there are also losers.
Because losing is unhealthy for the self esteem, divisions and leagues are invented. Someone that is a complete loser in second division can still be champion in first division. This way every athlete is winner and loser at the same time.
As a sucker you can still win from other suckers. On the Paralympics one legged athletes compete with one legged athletes, mongols with mongols, blind people with blind people.
This way everybody wins a cup. Seems like a bunch of toddlers competing instead of a real sports game.

You seem a little bitter...I gather your talents lie in areas other than athletics.

I have a son who gets straight A's in all of his subjects, and is a consistent winner on his teams for track and field, volleyball, soccer, and basketball. He works in the summers, and has a few friends, but none that he hangs around with a lot. He doesn't drink, doesn't do drugs, and doesn't plan to date until after he has graduated.

I'm sure he's engaged in his fair share of high-fiving and towel-snapping, but he's going to college on athletic scholarship, and then he's going to medical school.

Loser? I don't think so.

I'm not a fan of sports but I don't think their bad for social health. It's a sports players job to play sports. They get paid to do that. Heck, if I had a job that paid as well as theirs I would embrace the whole sports thing with a smile on my face. :) Though I agree with you about the whole "everyone wins even the losers". What you said about football was pretty funny. But yea.....not ALL athletes are losers.

Scoring a goal means a lot to you if you aren't content it seems as if you say that it isn't good or you're not putting too much of a good attitude in the game.

No, they probably enjoy playing and most are team sports which are good for their social health.
