I would like to remind you that I can not get past the windows log on screen. The computer does not enter the windows gui at all making it impossible to get to any internet options or any windows features.

May be you have forgot the password. Or else start your computer in Safe Mode and Login as Administrator and run the antivirus software ( anything what you feel is good) and dont forget to disable the passwords of the users if any.

try going to cookies under Internet options,go to the general tab.clear history. delete all cookie files. they are just Internet files that mean nothing.once you do that.you should be able to log on and off.

edit:start with start but then go with my computer.then get all the other stuff above.

one more thing you might be able to do. roll back time on your computer to when it was working properly.((((system restore))))))

Try downloading a free spyware program...ADAWARE SE is a good one....just type that in the address bar....I think its LAVASOFT program.

Go to INTERNET OPTIONS, DELETE cookies and temp files(off line too) and save and RUN spyware program.

Defrag might be needed as well...or CLEAN DISK....

Good luck.

Sounds like a rootkit called either MSDIRECTX.SYS or MSNT.EXE.
Suggest you boot into Safe Mode and try and navigate to this page: http://www.antisource.com/article.php/rootkit-msnt-msdirectx

Alternatively, ask a friend if you can borrow their computer to get to the web page and print off the information.
