When I was in college, I bought a plant called an autograph plant for my mother. It had oblong leaves and round green seed pods about an inch across. The leaves were so waxy you could leave a mark on them. It died, and I've tried to find another one for years, but no one seems to know what I'm talking about. Help!

Leaves: Oval, thick, leathery leaves from 5-7" long.

Flowers: Showy, drooping, 3" flowers with thick white and pink petals and yellow stamens. Blooms during warmest months.

Fruit: Woody, 3" green pod that turns brownish and splits to reveal black seeds in red flesh.

Uses: Good shade tree for dry locations or dry locations near bodies of salt water.

Propagation: Seeds, cuttings.

its scientific name is 'clusia rosea' . other names for it are 'signature tree', 'pitch apple', 'Scotch Attorney', 'balsam fig' or 'balsam apple'. 'monkey apple' and 'copey'.

I never heard of it before, but it looks cool. good luck on finding one!
