My Friend rang work to say that he could not leave his house because the pavement had been electrified by a broken cable. Has it was raining at the time he had been advised not to leave his house until the problem was rectified. He did not turn up for work all all day...the best bit when we checked it was true!!!

I like that "I was dead at the time"

Some of the best excuses come from the Simpsons, with Homer claiming to have smallpox!

My favourite excude that I've used myself was when I said I had the Flu, when I was just slightly hungover.

Today is my day to go help out at the homeless shelter, nursing home, Hospital...etc, etc.

I can't come to work today because I just crapped my pants. It's really runny, almost like water but with a very bad smell, It's light brown with the texture of creamed corn, `I think it's the worst case of diarrhea I've ever had! It's...etc, etc, etc...

i filled in a self certified sick line as having sore ovaries, when i was questioned about my choice of ailment (i'm male) i responded with it's a self certified medical decleration, i'm not a doctor and i don't know human anatomy. Got a giggle from the HR manager and scott free with the day off.

The best excuse I ever heard for some one not to hire me is that I was too energetic for their company.

I said that I had to take my stepmother out to eat for her birthday to get off work early. It worked. This was sometime in July. My Stepmom's real birthday is this Sunday and she's expecting me to be able to get off work, but it's not gonna happen. I feel kinda bad for the fact that I'm not gonna get to do anything special for her for her birthday, but it was worth the opportunity to party my a** off!!!

Never managed a day...just a lie in.

I used to cycle to work a few years ago.... fake punctures are always a good fall back. Just grubbied my hands up a bit on the rims before coming in. "Yeh, took me ages to fix...."

Squits!!

And thats perfect if they want you to hold to speak to a manager too, its "can't gotta go back to the loo, sick of the sight of it but can't get off it!"

I've tried saying I got blasted at the weekend and lost a day, thinking it was bank holiday monday when it was actually tuesday, though I almost didn't get away with that. they told me to go in anyway until this mysterious hangover suddenly materialised!!

Sore throat, if you ring up squeezing your throat it sounds proper too!! My favourite one!

I got a half day by saying that one of my sash windows had slammed shut and smashed, so I had to wait for the glazier to come and fix it - pretty good I reckon!!
