Whenever I am exiting a retail store and the security buzzer sounds I tend to keep walking because I know that I didnt steal anything and I have nothing to prove to anyone. But I see so many other people who will just stand there and WAIT for someone to come search their bags. Its one thing if a security guard is right there asking to search your bags but unless someone stops me I keep walking out the door. Even if the clerk is calling me to come back I will only stop if they chase me out to the parking lot.

With all the internal sensors they go off all the time. I don,t stop unless i'm asked. By the way I'm reporting the racist comment from above.

Depends.....there have been times when I've exited the store and the buzzer has gone off and I have only gone in for a return. Won't stop for that one at all. Then there was the time I bought a $500 jacket and exited the store without the buzzer going off and when I got home I found out they hadn't removed the security device! Ticked me off because I had to drive 200 miles back to the store the following week to have it removed. That was one time when I wished the buzzer had gone off----had my receipt in hand and would have saved me a 400 mile trip. Happy Wednesday!

I used to work as a security guard and can tell you that practically nobody stops anymore.

The public is getting used to the buzzer and don't pay attention to it anymore. Just what happend to car alarms, when they go off nobody pays attention to it.

I stop because sometimes sales clerks forget to take the tags off the product or demagnetize the stickers on the inside of the products.

yeah some times it is annoying. but think you only have to listen to for a few seconds. i have to listen to it for eight hours. i cant do anything any ways if they are taking something.the detectives don't want us hurt. we just have to report it. half the time the items wont deactivate anyway and you will buzz.

I always stop. The fear is to be perceived as a thief. I have never stolen anything ever in my life, so when I stop it is to protect my good reputation.

I stop because of all the cameras. I don't need the cops banging on my door when I might be busy doing something else,,,:-)=

Yeah, I keep walking if no one is there to check my bag or if they don't approach me. Damn buzzers.

No. It's a waste of time. Anyone who is going to shoplift is also going to be able to defeat those stupid things.

I usually stop and flash an indignant look back to the clerks and then they wave me on.
