Magdeberg Spheres Atmospheric Pressure
Instructions / Notes:
Make sure the valve is open on the Magdeberg plates and they are left in their stand.
Turn on the vacuum pump to evacuate the air between the plates.
Note: The valves on the rear of our vacuum cart must be set properly. (See second photo.)
Note: When using our full-flegded vacuum cart, the exhaust valve on the cart must be closed and inlet valve on the cart must be in the open position to evacuate the chamber. (Again, see the photo below)
After evacuating the plates, shut the valve on the Magdeberg plate and remove the rubber hose.
Have two, four or six students try to pull the plates apart.
