I'll remember her for her anti-war stance. Good on her for that, knowing her bosses were up to no good, she stood up for what was morally right.

I am afraid there is nothing more ex than an ex-MP or even an ex-minister. With few exceptions they do not stay in the public mind for long.

Clare Short's anti-war stance and her anti-Page 3 (with which I disagree) were part of her fighting spirit for the people she represented. I would like to think that the specific things she advocated will be remembered as part of the greater good she did as a champion in Parliament of the less fortunate, both in the UK and worldwide.

I'll remember her 4 saying She won't B resigning over the Iraq War, adding that she can serve her country more by staying put in Parliament!
Woman had a chance 2 make a statement, coz the Iraq War is/was illegal, but let it slide 2 save her Political Career.
Self first & self last.
They look after themselves & sod the Law.

Clare Short will be remembered as an opportunistic, stupid, greedy woman. Having significantly raised her profile at DfiD, she allowed herself to be conned by Tony Blair when it came to the crunch over Iraq. Despite being ant-invasion she voted in favour (while the more principled Robin Cook chose instead to resign) because she belived Bliar when he promised to expand her powers at DfiD even further. When - having got his invasion approved by Cabinet - Bliar subsequently reneged on his promise, Short resigned from the cabinet disingenuously claiming it was over Iraq. Gutless and two-faced. A pathetic example of pork politics.

Page 3 was just a silly diversion from more serious issues.

I like her too, though she was wrong not to support the overthrow of Saddam and the Iraqi democracy movement. I'd forgotten about the Page 3 stuff, all seems so long ago and so irrevelent doesn't it? I hope she continues in public life and keeps kicking New Labour ***. But I will remember her most for her striking resemblance to Sitting Bull - have a look: http://images.google.co.uk/images?q=sitting+bull&hl=en&btnG=Search+Images

I have to agree with Nutsters B. She said she would resign if we went to war with Iraq, then reneged on the statement and stayed as an MP. The only person she had in mind throughout her 'illustrious' career was herself.

She was a whinger and a whiner, ugly, opinionated, awful to listen to, and worse to look at. Who talks through their clenched-teeth like she does? Awful woman. Fuc&king good riddance.
