Why do questions involving sex get deleted from this site. I don't want the usual "this is a family site where children can view things blah blah blah..." I want the reason WHY that's considered a problem. I wanna know why people can't be more open about this kinda stuff anyway.
I just find it all very strange.

Sex is not taboo.

It's the way you pose your question and the words you use that can lead to deletion.

People who consider sex to be taboo are old-fashioned and narrow-minded. We are living in the 20th century now!

Its because of the way people were raised. Sex was "never" discussed in mixed company. Some people still feel it is "dirty". The deletions could be from the way your question /answer is phrased. Like it or not, the reason you site is a valid one. It is the responsibility of the parents to teach their children about sex. Perhaps Yahoo! Answers needs to add an "Adult Only" section. Not sure how it could be enforced though. And to the above answerer, we are now in the 21st century, not the 20th.

Sex should not be classed as a taboo subject, its not dirty or disgusting when its a loving act between two people, bigots, snobs and the old fashioned make it sound disgusting and dirty, lets face it most of the kids today know more about sex than I did at their age, good for them simply because the more the know about it the less likely they are to become pregnant at 16 and end up with STD's, none of us would be here today without sex, so why should it be taboo.

Sex is not taboo, but also remember that the site is being used by people soliciting sex, predators and child molesters disguised as 'questions'. Review some of the repeated questions...and you find such questions as 'how old were you'...'how often...' etc...some one is looking for kicks. Typical questions from Indian thrillseekers is 'how big is a 14 year old' or 'how can I make my...longer?' It is not the sex issue but the perverted purposes.

Discussing sex shouldn't be taboo. However we wouldn't want children viewing graphic details, would we?

its just down to how were brought up.i was kept away from sex growing up and made to feel it was dirty and something to be ashamed of and its stuck with me my whole life.no matter what anyone says to me now,i find the whole subject very embarresing and i dont like doing it much either.i dont think kids should be around it anyway its not their buisness and their innocence is shattered soon enough.

Sex is not Taboo.
It's those who lack the maturity, insight and perception to deal with it that brand it taboo.
