You are born with a talent, but you can still hone it,
When Pabal Casals was 95, he was interviewed and was asked why did he stllp practiced the cello five hours a day.
His reply? "After all these years, I think I'm just getting the hang of it."

Fantastic, A very good question, better than I have attempted so far,& would love 2B friend with such an humored person, . However I liked the phrases U put on your profile about U, A good attitude, 'm impressed.
Well, about artistic talent, in my opinion's a god gift, someone's born with artistic talent seems an offbit, but if it's put in this way that the born entity is interested right from the begining in the field of a particular art & by continueous, regourous practice & learning makes them master/expert worth praise by all, I guess. May B dbated more in details on IM, if U feel like. Thks & keep it up, asking such nice questions.

Born with talent. Learning helps to bring out the talent.

I would be a prime sample for an experiment in that question.
I'm adopted from Hungarian refugees. Never knew my parents, adopted by a couple who realized as a kid I loved music. As I grew, Mom bought a piano, I took lessons, then took drum lessons in school. Now I play several instruments and played in many rock groups throughout life. A friend of mine visited Hungary this month, returned just yesterday, and gave me a cd of Hungarian music. Her comment was "I learned a lot about you. Hungarians are very talented in music and almost everyone plays an instrument or sings. They love music". So now I'm wondering is my love for music genetic or the environment I grew up in, or a combination of both.

I think everyone is born with some sort of artistic talent, be it painting or making music, but we´ve all got something, you know. How you choose to develop your skill though will determine how "good" you are. So, its alot of hard work, either way. But thatz just what i think anywaz.

I think it is possible to learn an artistic talent, but in my experience, the best ones of all time had little education and training, but were absoluteley brilliant.

I think God gives us each an individual talent, its our job to find out what it is. Mine is singing.
One can learn a talent, but someone with a natural knack for it stands out in the crowd.

You have to be born with a natural artistic ability.
You can`t force it, or learn it.
But everybody has talents and things they are good at.

I believe a person is either born with it or not.
You can learn the technicality to some extend but you can't make yourself creative if you are not already.
