I am tired of mundane TV which rots the brain. I want to engage in thought-provoking topics where I can debate individuals with an above-average IQ. Anyone know of any forums where I might satisfy my intellectual urges ?

ABC has a website that has a message board section where you can debate political issues, "big news" issues, health, science, etc.

*You will still run into "dummys" where ever you go!;)*

Here is the link

They formed Mensa and other hi-q groups for that. (I once joined Mensa myself for a year to fluff my resume - what a freaking waste.) There's internet message boards, depending on what topics you're interested in - I like slashdot.org for everything IT related, and they also have science and politics sections. There's chess clubs and other activities. There's the bum down the hall, who's just dying to discuss Proust and the theory of relativity. And of course, not everything on the boob tube is bad. Or if it is, pick up a book.

bypass to your nearest coffee abode and undertaking any pseudo-psychological sitting next to you to a debate on such subjects. Pseudo-intellectuals love discussing subjects they think of are profound. subjects inclusive of "optimism v. pessimism."
