In order to maintain the machine has to have no repair issues. Keeping your machinery in "fine operating condition" is what most people do allow one or two broken items. I will replace that rear view mirror latter. Keep up maintenance to make the machine last longer is what I'm all about. Taking a power steering pump apart and replacing the seal "Repair" what is leaking, that comes with little or no warranty. But If I put on a new pump One Year warranty. All maintenance just keeps your machine from running down. But won't keep you from saying that cars maintenance cost be X and That would have been a down payment on a new machine.

Maintenance is the type of work that you do to keep your item in running/new condition - like changing the oil or spark plugs on your car, adding radiator or transmission fluid, inflating the tires to proper pressure.

Repairs is work done to fix broken parts - fixing a flat tire, replacing a worn out battery - replacing parts on the whole is considered repair of the whole item (such as replacing a broken/worn out radiator is considered repairs.

Replacement is when you finally decide to buy another item, such as buying another car.

Are you refering to "Total Cost Of Ownership" in a company?
That's what I interpreted it as.

For example, the decision to buy a computer may result in the following TCO analysis: the greater initial price of a high-end computer is to be balanced by adding likely repair costs and earlier replacement to the purchase cost of the cheaper bargain brand, among other factors. The initial price becomes just the beginning of the life cycle of costs.
