Every sound, including a duck's quack, will echo. The echo can not always be detected by the human ear, it depends on the frequency, amplitude, material that the sound reflects off etc etc etc (not to mention how good the hearing of the listener is!).

Just searched this on Yahoo! Answers, as thought I'd seen the question before - seems it's been asked many times! Majority conclusion confirms it will echo.

HOW MANY MORE TIMES IS THIS GOING TO COME UP.

A ducks quack DOES echo.

You just don't hear it as ducks live on, or near, open water so there is nothing around for the sound to bounce back off.

Put a duck in somewhere that will echo, get it to quack, and the echo will be there.

It's hard to tell. We have 8 ducks and I swear they all quack at the same time. I guess they echo each other.

Either that or it's a widely believed "urban myth", but I understand it to be true.

I wish I could tell you why this is - probably something to do with the shape of the soundwaves or something, but I don't know for sure why.

You might want to check out Myth Busters - it sounds like the kind of thing they would have put to the test.

Sorry to tell you this but... yes it does.
You cannot change the law of physics I'm afraid. Urban myth.
