That's about right! As far as I normal that is normal for computer. Safe Mode is doing things as safe as they can! If you really have
lots to defrag it could take as much as 12 hours!
I find the best time to defrag my computer in safe mode is before I hit the sack set it to defrag! I suggest you defrag about once a month! Back things up first then you can defrag in normal mode! That should be done in about 2 hours. the more stuff to defrag the lower your computer will take!

Depends on the size of your hard drive. The bigger the drive the longer the defrag/scan. Microsofts defragger is notoriously slow and scan disc can take forever depending on what settings you have.

You should defrag your computer at least once a week. It should only take a few minutes to do it.

It depends on the size and degree of fragmentation of your hard drive, and how long it has been since you last ran it. Try running it overnight, then again in the morning. I'll bet the second time is WAY quicker. That's assuming there are no other faults with your system.

Well it depends on your HD's size.
But for a normal size drive like say 40GB, no way should it take more than 5 hours.

If this is the case you must have a few bad clusters on your drive.
Or something is physically broken inside.

No, it normally takes less time because there are no interruptions from other programs that are working simultaneously. Sounds like something else isn't right with your system.
