So far this HP dv1000 entertainment series has been great just over a year old battery lasts 4 hours and wireless connects to any unsecured network. couldn't be happier. And cheep because I am a mechanic and have this machine on my tool box for service manuals and E-mail. I don't play DVD's CD's much Although I have burned lots of pictures to CDR's. Altec speakers and two headphone jacks. The only thing missing is web camera. All for under $900 when I got it now sells for about $500 Easy Sears dot com. buy and pick up at a store near you.

All that glitters is not gold.
Unquestionably HP, whilst Dell's are cheaper for the spec, they source their components on the basis of what is cheapest so components may vary in the same machine. This has lead to quality control and reliability issues. HP are good robust and reliable machines.
