It is not true for me, I have had a very unhappy past, and now an at the happiest I have ever been, it just keeps getting better. Not that I am rich or have everything I want, I still have goals to work towards, but emotionally and mentally, I am very happy

I guess this implies that for one to be happy not only must the circumstances that bring happiness occur, but also the individual needs to decide that he/she is actually happy..
however didn't you ever feel like flying because something very nice happened to you?? I think that at that moment you were happy ....
another possible explanation is that when we look back we tend to idealise some situations and only see the good things...
..come to think of it, I am not sure I agree with the initial statement

Not true,it must be a sad world we live in if someone has to remember being happy, and not to feel happy everyday.

I definitely think this is true. The memory (which is often favorably edited by the owner) is usually much more pleasant than the actual event itself.
Because the event comes and goes, but the memory stays until we die. JMHO.

How could the experience not be happiness while it is happening?
Perhaps that expression is confusing happiness with memory -- to be more accurate, nostalgia.

i think this is quite true... everytime we are feeling happy... we just feel it... we don't say... hey, i am happy right now... we just let it flow... and time passes with it... when everything is completely gone... that's the time we realize we felt happy... that's the time we realize we actually felt good at that particular time... and that's the time we realize that it has already passed... and is now gone... we just remember it... we just remember that at that time we felt happiness... hehe...

no it's not true...
because you feel Happy to live / experience Happiness...
but you feel Delighted when you remember Happiness
i see it in my grandmothers eys when she talked about my dead grandfather... she delighted because she remembers him, but she not happy because he's gone now.
and me, when i speak of my old school days, i'm delighted and feel lucky that i had that experience and these friends, but i just wish i was there to experience it!
