Ok I have danced for 2 years on Ballet and Hip hope and I was thinking about taking Tap. I have never done tap before and i dont want to do it and look like a conplete idiot because i dont know what i am doing. Do you think I will be able to pick up on it ok. Since I am 15, they are placing me in an adv. tap class but most of the girls in there have only had 1 year of experience.

If you've done hip hop and ballet you will have no problem catching up its just a different technique

If you live in Australia check out this guy he has an awesome new syllabus

Personally, I believe tap is the easiest of the other lessons you have taken. If you have the flexability and control that it takes for ballet and the ability to move through hip-hop, tap will be easy.

Take it from an old (haha - 33 year old) dance teacher, you are never too old to learn something new. I only started hip-hop about 3 years ago. Think of me in a class with a bunch of 13, 14, and 15 year olds! I love it though and now teach it as well.

Have fun and enjoy your class!

u should cheak because most other studios have a level 1 class for older girls. picking up tap....it just kinds depends some ppl can and some ppl can't. ppl wouldn't think yr an idiot....you've never done it b4 so don't sweat it! but know that u willn't know what yr doing first going in so don't get discouraged if u work hard, practice a lot, and pay attention in class then u will probably b caught up in no time at all! GOOD LUCK :) and don't give up!!!

You will catch on quick probably but I don't know about advanced tap. You still have to learn the basic steps before you can learn to put them all together. But if the other girls have only 1 yr. experience then maybe you'll be fine.

I think you'll be fine, learn how to shuffle and ball change and your off to a great start. Most of the steps are fairly easy. Its not that hard and it's REALLY fun. Don't worry about making a fool of yourself. One year experience isn't that advanced in my opinion anyway. Keep the rhythm!
