Th regulations state that the race's length is the smallest number of laps it takes to go over 305 kilometers. This is shortened by 1 lap every time there is an aborted start, the race can also be aborted before it's over and not restarted (no points given for less than 2 laps by the leader, full points if the leader has covered more than 75% of the race, and half the points if in between). Monaco is an exception, the low average speed meaning that 78 laps have been deemed as the most laps possible in the legal limit, which is 2 hours for the race. So the race in Monaco is only about 260 km long. If after 2 hours the leader hasn't completed the necessary number of laps, he is shown the chequered flag after the lap when the 2-hour period has expired.

Lap numbers range from 44 at Spa (which is almost 7 km long; it is not held this year but it is returning on next year's calendar) and 78 at Monaco.

Depends on the circuit. Sometimes it's around 70 (for short ones), sometimes it's around 50 (for long ones).

And to the guy who said 17 laps, that's impossible and wrong. Never has a formula 1 race done 17 laps. 17 laps would be over in 20 minutes.

The number of laps in the formula 1 racing will differ from circuit to circuit, mostly depends on the length of the track to cover a race distance of 300 kilometers approximately for each race. For example Monaco circuit length is 3.4 km and number of laps are 78 and take Monza circuit length is 5.79 km and number of laps is 53.

Races are 305 kilometres long (apart from the Monaco Grand Prix, which is 78 laps / 260.5 km), though occasionally some races are truncated due to special circumstances so you it depends on the length of the circuit. A race can last for no longer than two hours.

A typical F1 race lasts for close to 300 Kms. The number of laps depends on the length of the circuit.

I depends on the length of the circuit, if it is too long the number of laps may be less and if the track is too sort the number of laps will be more. The maximum length of a F1 race is limited to 306km by FIA and if the track length is 5.141kms as it is in Britain, Silverstone circuit there will be 60 laps, which is medium circuit, if it is 5.543km as it is in Malaysian Grand prix there will be 58laps, which is a long circuit, if it is 3.340kms as it is in Monaco there will be 78laps in the race, which is short circuit.
