Factoring polynomials

Not sure if I got this one right. I'm having alot of difficulty with these things. Factor the following polynomials:

4y^2+16y+16

And the other is:

x^2-25/x+5 (It reads x squared -25 over x+5)

Thank you

1. 4y^2+ 16y +16 this is a complete square of ( 2y + 4) ^ 2. =
(2y + 4) . (2y + 4 )
( a + b ) ^2 = a^2 +2ab + b^2.

2. X^2 -25 / x+5
(x+5) ( x-5) /x+5
= x-5.

4y^2+16y+16
=4y^2+8y+8y+16 [4*16=64, 8*8 also 64 and 8+8 =16]
=4y(y+2)+8(y+2) [taking common]
=(y+2)+(4y+8) [taking common]

can't really explain to you how to derive e answer but the first answer shld be

(2y+4)^2

and the second ans is
(x-5)

You can actually get the ans thru the using the method for algebraic division.

Good luck.
I hated Math and only knew how to do the division when I was in college.
It becomes easier when you get the hang of it.
