Yes. First that use directX
Programs running in the background like as Winamp Agent, WinZip, Networking Services (if not on n/w then disable it) and there are much more unwanted ones that act as a Daemon Programs(running in Background).
So remember to remove all these (only) unwanted programs from memory before starting your game.
Also in the gaming options Make the TRAIL option OFF. This improves the run of the game.
Keep your processor with the highest speed that is possible.
Also the RAM plays an important role so keep it too with higher capacity.
Also you can use Video Card, Graphics Processor because that reduces the overheads of CPU thus enhancing your game play.

install directx o nur computer,, and update it regularly,,,
this resolves the problems regarding gaming....
remember directx!!
